ABSTRACT
In his chapter, Michael Cronin explores how the particular Western ontological prejudice that puts substance above transformation, placing the subject above the process, has cast translation into the dark side of conventional thought. In particular, he investigates how this inattentiveness to translational dynamics is having far-reaching consequences for how we think about knowledge and human society in the era of human-induced climate change. Moreover, he argues for a change within translation studies: one capable of answering the challenges posed by climate change.
