ABSTRACT
This chapter outlines the strategies implemented by the Institute of Creative Technologies (IOCT) at De Montfort University in the UK to support their doctoral candidates. IOCT considers these strategies from a holistic perspective, viewing how they can operate as an ecosystem of doctoral support. The CTx ecosystem is a model of how to design a support strategy that can be applied in any PBR context or, alternatively, adapted to different institutional contexts where necessary. In part 1 of this chapter, we present the underlying principles that guide the support of doctoral candidates in the IOCT. Part 2 then describes each component in the ecosystem and offers an evaluation from the student body. The final section concludes how the ecosystem interlinks and what the benefits are. Additionally, an appendix contains several of the resources that are offered to the doctoral candidates. These resources are intended for post-graduate practitioner researchers and their supervisors so they can guide and strengthen each individual’s programme of work.
