ABSTRACT

This chapter presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in part 5 of this book. The part presents a series of practitioner’s voice chapters from a range of fields and disciplines. It discusses the generation of a Participatory Practice-Based Research framework through which deep relational encounters between practitioners and participants can be enabled. The part draws on over ten years of practice-based research that applies emerging technologies, algorithms, and code as a creative medium in the areas of music performance, music composition, and media art installation. It discusses the approach taken to practice-based research in his doctoral project entitled _derivations and the Performer-Developer: Co-Evolving Digital Artefacts and Human–Machine Performance Practices. The part considers some of the important activities involved in negotiating practice in PhD research. It focuses on an arts health research project.
