ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the approach taken to practice-based research in my doctoral project entitled _derivations and the Performer-Developer: Co-Evolving Digital Artefacts and Human-Machine Performance Practices. The project involved the development of both a novel software artefact and an associated performance practice in the area of interactive musical performance. This chapter details the approach to reflective practice taken in this creative-production research project, reflects upon the benefits and challenges of this methodological approach and outlines the theoretical findings that emerged from cycles of practice and reflection in the research process.
