ABSTRACT
This is a personal reflection on an interdisciplinary project in which I transpose approaches from psychoanalysis and art psychotherapy to the fine arts in an experiment with method. Conceptualised as a ‘speculative weaving’ in three transpositions, my research follows the intertwining dialogues and entanglements that emerge as I traverse institutional boundaries in healthcare and academia, exploring practices of ‘making’ as a means of enquiry into organisational processes. Working with and through these practices, I come to understand the potential contribution that artistic processes and strategies may offer as part of a reflexive research approach, and the learning that can arise through a clash of disciplinary perspectives. New understanding emerges in/through the moving, (re)assembling, handling, (re)configuring, and sharing of diverse practices and material, the interweaving of dialogues, and the negotiation of tensions and resistances encountered at the borders between domains.
