ABSTRACT

Primary school teachers have an amazing impact not only on how children learn to cope with education but also how they cope with the stress of having to learn new things which can often be outside of their own comfort zone and ability. It is vitally important as a primary school teacher to involve play, games and competitions to help embed the learning that is taking place. The brain is hard wired to play in a way that is often at conflict with the modern world. Building a sense of belonging and safety for the child right from the start is going to be key. Rewards are often used to encourage children to stay on task and complete pieces of work and for some these form a good strategy for a short while. Children’s time in primary school involves very many changes that their young bodies will go through.
