ABSTRACT
Cluster analysis is a method of grouping people or things with similar attributes. This chapter provides a background on the purpose and history of cluster analysis in planning. The mechanics section focuses on key terms that relate to cluster analysis. The step-by-step section includes instructions for a few different types of cluster analysis tests available in SPSS and R. The chapter concludes with two real examples of cluster analysis in planning research.
