ABSTRACT

The system of teacher education is called upon, on the one hand, to meet the tasks of the personal and professional development of a teacher who is able to educate the younger generation in the context of enduring values and meanings of life. On the other hand, to meet the challenges of the modern stage of the science and society development, to take into account the leading trends in the dynamics of professional training of a teacher, be aimed at the prospects for its further improvement. From this point of view, the development of the teaching profession and preparation for it proceeds according to objective laws. These laws need to be investigated for forecasting, identifying general trends in the future of teacher education. In this chapter, firstly the features of the pedagogical corps of Russia are revealed in the context of the Teaching and Learning International Survey – TALIS-2018. Then some of the challenges and problems in Russian teacher education are examined. The third part covers possible scenarios for the future development of the teacher education system in Russia.
