ABSTRACT

This collaborative chapter provides an overview of the initiatives that were taken to grow and update the German minor program at Concordia University in Montreal. The authors shed light on the strategies employed over a combined period of five years as successive program coordinators to revive an already wilting program that was suddenly impacted by a university budget crisis. Strategies that will be discussed here include elements of local outreach, collaborations both inside and outside of Concordia University, identification and pursuit of adjunct funding sources, enhancement of local and international program visibility and updating and broadening the appeal of course content and community building within the program itself.
