ABSTRACT
This chapter seeks to contribute to the theoretical development of a community perspective of well-being in childhood. Furthermore, it focuses on the relevance of relational frameworks from which well-being in childhood is defined as a subjective experience mostly of a social nature.
Theoretical notions that contribute to the development of a community and relational perspective of well-being in childhood are reviewed and presented. Two social theories are introduced – The New Sociology of Childhood and the Intersectional Approach – highlighting the central ideas that contribute to a critical perspective of well-being in childhood.
A community-based and critical perspective is suggested that problematises the homogenisation of well-being, as well as grounding it as a socially constructed subjective experience, including the relevance of voice and agency of children. It also differentiates challenges and demands that this kind of perspective has with regard to the methods and tools of the study.
Resumen
Este capítulo busca aportar al desarrollo de una perspectiva comunitaria del bienestar en la infancia, poniendo foco en la relevancia de los entramados relacionales desde donde éste se define como un emergente subjetivo, básicamente de carácter social.
Se revisan y exponen nociones teóricas que contribuyen al desarrollo de una perspectiva comunitaria y relacional del bienestar en la infancia. Se introducen dos teorías sociales –La Nueva Sociología de la Infancia y el Enfoque Interseccional – destacando las ideas centrales que aportan a una perspectiva crítica del bienestar en la infancia.
Se propone una perspectiva con base comunitaria y crítica que problematiza la homogeneización del bienestar, así como fundamenta una concepción de él como emergente subjetivo socialmente construido, incluyendo la relevancia de la agencia y las voces de los niños, niñas y adolescentes, y finalmente distingue desafíos y exigencias que una perspectiva de este tipo tiene a nivel de los métodos y herramientas de estudio.
