ABSTRACT

Home care provides an exciting and unique opportunity for training mental health providers at every stage of professional development, from practicum student to post-licensure professional. With this diversity of training experiences comes numerous considerations for preparing the trainee to practice, providing supervision, and evaluating competencies. This chapter reviews these considerations at the pre-licensure level (e.g., practicum, master, predoctoral, postdoctoral). Additionally, the chapter will discuss issues related to mentoring post-licensure professionals as well as interprofessional competencies relevant to the home care setting.
