ABSTRACT

This chapter identifies and explains the significance of inclusivity in the reconciliation process, an issue neglected by former President Robert Mugabe's government despite the fact that he had pronounced it in 1980. National healing and reconciliation in Zimbabwe can only be realised if the process values and takes into consideration the views and aspirations of different stakeholders. Civilian participation is integral in carrying out a locally initiated and durable reconciliation programme in Zimbabwe. The regulatory objective of the traditional justice system headed by traditional leaders in Africa in general and Zimbabwe in particular seeks to restore peace and harmony in the community. Media reforms in Zimbabwe can lead to better prospects for good governance in the sense that bias would be minimised as issues affecting the nation would be fairly covered without considering the political affiliation of the persons involved.
