ABSTRACT

The overall aim of this chapter is to consider the principles of Sue Jennings’ Neuro-Dramatic-Play as a form of pre-therapy/structured play within a junior school setting. The main objective will consider how running a 12-week play-based session with a group of 15 children (10- to 11-year-olds) will impact on their overall confidence and self-esteem. Using the theme of ‘going on an adventure’ using teacher observation and interviews with the children we will attempt to qualify the development of confidence and self-esteem in the group.
