ABSTRACT

The evolution of cameras into powerful imaging devices represents an extraordinary technological transformation that began in 1827 when the first permanent photograph was made. That being said, the ultimate reason why people use cameras has remained basically the same since that time and that is to take a picture whether for personal or professional reasons. Modern cameras come in a variety of sizes and shapes, and are equipped with many specialized features. Each type of camera has advantages, disadvantages, and reasons for using it. Smartphones (cameras), DSLR cameras, mirrorless cameras, and instrument or industrial cameras are a few of the varieties a scientific photographer can choose from. There are several modes used to operate a camera. These modes include manual or automatic. There are also several secondary modes that are available in modern DSLR cameras. Electronic shutters are controlled by the camera’s processor and require power to operate.
