ABSTRACT

Requirements for Halal products and services are known as defining and complying with the needs for Muslims as one of their obligations to their religion. Within the South East Asia (SEA) region, the emergence, development and growth of halal industry are agile and active in Muslim countries such as Malaysia. Malaysia has been an active country in halal industry that is not only limited to the production of halal products to be consumed but also in providing and offering other related halal activities such as consultation, regulatory advices and supporting the halal industry through marketing, transportation and logistics. Of late, the costs of international travelling especially for Malaysians have become more affordable and reasonable, thus allowing more people to travel to other countries. One of the SEA countries that is currently contributed to the higher number of Malaysians travelling to is Vietnam. This is adding up with the fact that the landscape of tourism activities and offering in Vietnam have changed significantly that are catering for the needs of Muslim tourism such as the emergence of halal food retailer, clothing and textile manufacturer. In view of the integrity requirements for halal industry, there is a need for establishment of halal logistics within the industry in Vietnam to support the new potential of halal industry. In fact, there is a great benefit in linking between the halal economic activities and logistics industry from the context of knowledge management. This chapter provides beautiful view of halal economic activities and its growth in Vietnam to the readers, and explains how the next strategy in intensifying halal logistic industry from the context of knowledge management in the country becomes essential.
