Hackenberg is Associate Professor of Anthropology, University of Colorado, and formerly research anthropologist with the Bureau of Ethnic Research, University of Arizona, and the National Institutes of Health. He has conducted comparative studies of ecological, demographic, and sociocultural change among the Pima and the Papago Indians, described in various articles.
