ABSTRACT
Williams argues that skaters of color have always been part of skateboarding culture but have not been part of the academic literature on skateboarding. He notes that popular culture is now integrating skaters of color into the core and origin stories of skateboarding. He makes a call to academics to commit to research that focuses on the lives of lifestyle participants of color.
