ABSTRACT
Comley offers empirical insight into the ways in which Mexican Americans navigate and (un)successfully infiltrate predominantly white, male, middle-class sporting arenas. By exploring Mexican American surfers’ everyday experiences and emotional responses, she identified varying ways Mexican American surfers combat and cope with discrimination and marginalization across surf spaces in Southern California.
