ABSTRACT

Geckle and Shaw use Jack Halberstam’s concept of queer failure and José Esteban Muñoz’s queer futurity and utopianism to investigate how queer skateboarders are tapping into a queer potential to perceive and perform in the world differently that exists in the practice and aesthetic of skateboarding. This potential serves as an entry point for queer skateboarders and provides them an opportunity to affirm their identities as simultaneously queer and skaters.
