ABSTRACT

Rensselaer Middle High School has all the fiscal and social problems of a small inner city school, but critical thinking and independent learning are central to the curriculum. Learning Center programs include a grade 6-12 interdisciplinary research skills program, an automated library, and a field trip program to local public and college libraries. The hectic participation by students, the cooperation of the administration and city, and the active teaching role of the Librarian make it all work.
