ABSTRACT
In 1962 the need for integrating library service was foreseen as necessary to provide a sound basis for improving resources and services within the state of West Virginia. The West Virginia Union List proved to be the vehicle by which this goal was to be accomplished. In this article, the development of a library cooperation project is traced from its beginnings a quarter of a century ago to the introduction of present-day online systems.
