ABSTRACT

Many institutions of higher education across North America recognise the value in internationalising their curricula, and campuses are working to expand opportunities for students to increase their global awareness and develop intercultural agility. This is certainly true for Elon University, which is the nation’s leader in the rate of undergraduate study abroad participation among PhD granting schools. Teaching faculty are often both the designers and practitioners of international and global curricula, which manifests itself in both disciplinary and interdisciplinary ways. While some curriculum development support does exist, the onus is on the individual faculty member(s) to initiate and design this curriculum. The eight international competences of Educational Quality at Universities for inclusive international Programmes for Educational developers encompass a multitude of attitudes, values, knowledge, and skills related to equity and inclusion. Our institution, like many in North America, has demonstrated a commitment to strengthening connections between knowledge and experience through the development of research centres as well as curricular pathways.
