ABSTRACT
The building program statement, sometimes called simply the library program, is an essential document for planning a library. Its purpose is to define the type of library desired, its goals, the size of the collection, the amount of space needed, etc. It should be considered flexible, so that the program reflects changing ideas about the library, even if certain basic statistics it contains are not changed.
