ABSTRACT

Lincoln Park Zoological Gardens, founded in 1868, is supported in its goals and purposes by its reference library. The library offers a full range of services based on its specialized reference collections. In addition to a description of these features, the paper contains an introduction to zoos as societal entities, and the future trends in information requirements of zoos are discussed. An appendix provides a bibliography of articles on libraries and information services in zoos and aquariums.
