ABSTRACT

The library network of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is composed of a Headquarters library, ten Regional libraries and fifteen specialized or scientific libraries located throughout the country. Technology transfer may be defined as “the use of technical knowledge in an area other than the one for which the research and development was originally performed.” This article reviews the contributions of the network libraries and librarians to the Agency’s technology transfer efforts. In doing so it highlights many of the special and unique collections and services of the network libraries.
