ABSTRACT

The Supreme Court of India recently directed the Indian government to draw up guidelines to deal with fake news, on social media. Countries like Singapore, Australia, Malaysia, as well as the EU have already formulated laws to control the spread of fake news, which attract heavy fine and jail sentences. During the onset of the millennium, when worldwide web and ICT were on peak demand and all sectors of services and industries were computerized, there was fear that the computer would substitute humans. However, the fear soon proved to be unfounded; on the contrary computers increased the use of humans and created more jobs for them. Similarly, online sales, e-commerce, and dotcoms were once considered a threat to human jobs, but were soon found to be helpful in job creation.
