ABSTRACT

Region Hovedstadens Psykiatri (RHP) is the organisation that provides mental health services in the Capital Region of Denmark. The management context is important. RHP was created from the 2007 merger of four services with different histories, cultures, and treatment approaches. Turning four separate organisations into one integrated merged organisation with a single approach was a significant challenge.

Since 2010, RHP has worked to create continuous, systematic improvements using Lean methods as the common currency across the new organisation. By merging approaches RHP has successfully reached two very ambitious national goals:
