ABSTRACT
My interest in the field of human-animal interaction began before I did. My parents had companion animals when I was born and my ‘siblings’ were a dachshund named Schnappsee and three Pekin ducks. In fact, I really don’t have photos of me with my parents for the first six months of my life—all the photos are of me with the critters! Growing up with companion animals and having parents who exposed me to animals of all sorts served as a strong foundation for my love and appreciation of animals.
