ABSTRACT

My interest in the field of animal-assisted interventions (AAI) is to increase quality of life for clients while guaranteeing the welfare of the animals involved. After managing a small unconventional equestrian center, I transitioned to offering equine-assisted psychotherapy and learning (EAP/L) to corporations, groups, and individuals. I also founded a non-profit organization, MiMer, a small equine-human research and education center, a trust that soon will support our field with funds for research and education. Today MiMer consists of a growing international network of dedicated researchers, educators, therapists, and others within the fields of animal science or human mental health, growth, and development. Together we explore and educate about the mechanisms in human-equine interaction, focusing on therapeutic interventions.
