ABSTRACT

This chapter presents some of the reviews of the works of romantic women writers which were published in the Town and County Magazine. The writers whose works were reviewed include Judith Alexander, Ann Belfille, Anna Maria Bennett, Mary Dawes Blackett, Anne Fuller, and Ann Gomersall. On Fuller, the review says that the author in The Son of Ethelwolfe. A historical Novel has acquired a new name; it is a work of merit, with very few faults. On Gimersall, the review says that her work is artless moral story, contrived in an easy pleasing manner, and enlivened by humorous personages and laughable events.
