ABSTRACT
This chapter presents the story of the novel The Rotchfords. The novel explores various incidents in the life of the eponymous family which become occasions for the moral instruction of the children by the parents. The concluding part of the novel takes up the consequences of the Rotchfords giving sanctuary to a runaway slave child brought to England by a not very subtly named ‘Captain Midas.’.
