ABSTRACT

S. T. Southwell hoped that every man in the kingdom who venerated the laws, would express that feeling, by endeavoring to obtain justice, and afford relief to the Manchester sufferers. During the progress of their deliberations, the audience received a large accession to its numbers, and the handsome und spacious Guildhall in which they were received, was at length entirely filled, The must perfect order and harmony prevailed through this promiscuous assemblage. Mr. S. Wortley again endeavoured to resume his speech, but he met with considerable interruption. Mr. Dundas and Mr. Walter Fawkes in vain tried to obtain for him a hearing. On the legality or illegality of the Meeting must depend the inculpation or exculpation of the Magistrates.
