ABSTRACT

More than anything else, water forms the center of gravity of the Greater Bay Area. From an historical perspective, this liquid body has always been a major support for the development of the Delta’s land and associated infrastructures. Now, in reaction to the looming threat of climate change and rising sea levels, as well as an economic shift (from fishing to shipping), this chapter proposes new amphibious infrastructures that bring the reformulation of the reality and imaginary of this territory. This chapter also details specific proposals and installations in the context of the Pearl River Delta.
