ABSTRACT

This chapter seeks to provide a contextualized overview of Derrida’s Specters of Marx and a hauntological engagement with two of Baltimore ghosts: Civil War monuments and the art of the Uprising. Rather than provide an exhaustive overview of religion in the city of Baltimore, we engage these particular ghosts as a few of the many that haunt Baltimore and cities across the globe. As such, we are particularly interested in the manner in which these ghosts raise issues of justice and organizing to the fore.
