ABSTRACT

Since mid-1992, Springer-Verlag, AT&T Bell Laboratories, and the University of California San Francisco have been cooperating on Red Sage, an experimental project to bring scientists and researchers electronic access to medical journals. Robert Badger, Director of Electronic Projects for Springer-Verlag, discussed the development of the project, the difficulties it has encountered, its successes, preliminary conclusions drawn from the project, and possible future directions.
