ABSTRACT
Gophers provide a means of finding and retrieving information stored on the Internet. Based on a hierarchical, menu-driven client/server model, gophers allow maintainers to present information in an organized manner and users to sift through these menus in a methodical way. This session introduces the general capabilities of gopher clients, demonstrates some of the ways to use gopher clients, and explores some of the interesting sites in gopher space. It also covers what is needed in terms of systems, knowledge, and time to set up and 12maintain a gopher server.
