ABSTRACT

Electronic journal acquisition is a complex and sometimes difficult process. This paper describes various decisions involved in acquiring electronic journals, addresses the nature of potential problems, and offers possible solutions. The discussion covers investigation and verification of electronic journal titles, complexities of ordering and receiving, and maintenance of ongoing availability of electronic journal titles. Rather than presenting step-by-step instructions, this paper encourages the reader to learn ways of looking at the situation and ways of understanding events, so the reader’s decision-making becomes as well informed as possible.
