ABSTRACT

Critical race theory (CRT) is a dynamic interdisciplinary framework used to identify, analyze, and challenge the ways race and racism intersect with multiple forms of subordination to shape the experiences of People of Color. This chapter discusses CRT’s intellectual genealogy in the law focusing on one of its prominent branches, Latino critical theory (LatCrit) as applied to education. The authors identify where the concept of intersectionality and insights of LatCrit consciousness can inform teaching praxis.
