ABSTRACT
Twenty-five years ago, when I was finishing my doctorate, the faculty at George Washington University told me to be sure to keep up with the literature in my field after graduation. They cautioned me that everything I had learned would be obsolete by the end of my career. Today, the flow of information is so fast that sometimes I wonder if what students learn at the beginning of their graduate programs isn’t obsolete by the time they receive their degrees.
