ABSTRACT
The recent article in the “Science Times” section of the New York Times, entitled “In the Realm of Technology, Japan Looms Ever Larger,” illustrated with a marvelous map of the world the trends in globalization of research and scholarly information, and patents over the last ten years: in all those fields Japan has become much larger and, especially in technology, is now the second largest player in the world. 1
