ABSTRACT

The National University of Mexico, known as UNAM (Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Mexico), was founded in 1551. It is one of the oldest universities on the North American continent. During its 439 years it has undergone political, social, and economic crises. However, it is still the largest university in Mexico and produces about 38 percent of the country’s research. It has certain characteristics that make it interesting from the point of view of serials acquisitions and the flow of scholarly information.
