ABSTRACT

A translator of scientific-technical material must be a very versatile animal if he is to survive, perhaps today more than ever before, when some technologies are running five to ten years ahead of their lexicographers. Translation is a vital part of the dissemination of information, and translators are finding that they must learn the skills of information scientists, not only to be able to locate information on both the mundane and arcane, but also to find equivalencies on the other side of the language barrier.
