Automated Information Services for Supreme National Authorities: The Libraries’ Contribution – The Example of the Federal Republic of Germany

Parliamentary and administrative libraries, unlike public libraries, are not institutions of their own but part of the administrative organization of their authorities. Moreover, as a rule they are not the only organizational units which provide information to their authorities. In consequence, the standard of their services is permanently being exposed to a comparison by their users with the standard of services rendered by the other organizational units.
