ABSTRACT

The Hennepin County Library serves the County excluding the City of Minneapolis which operates its own independent library system. The Library provides services through three area libraries, 23 community libraries, a bookmobile, deposit collections at nursing homes and correctional facilities, and mail service to the home-bound. An appointed seven-member Library Board responsible to the County Board of Commissioners acts as a Board of Directors for the system. A Library Director—appointed by the County Administrator from the recommendations submitted by the Library Board and ratified by the County Board—directs and administers the activities of the Library department. There are three major divisions: Administrative Services Division, Public Services Division, and Technical Services Division. Each division is directed and administered by a Division Director.
