ABSTRACT
This chapter examines the construction of violence and trauma in the film The Night of Truth by Fanta Régina Nacro of Burkina Faso. The film depicts two warring communities whose attempts at peacemaking require huge human sacrifices from both sides. Ultimately, the film tackles not just trauma but healing after trauma. The healing process and the many obstacles to it are in no way sugarcoated by the film.
