ABSTRACT
This chapter explores the notion of linguistic violence in selected Nigerian dramatic literature by examining two plays by Ahmed Yerima and Sunny Ododo. Drawing on feminist linguistic theories, it argues that masculinist language enacts violence on human bodies by reducing women to objects that can be used and discarded at will. In addition, through language use women, and sometimes men, are denied their basic rights to dignity.
