ABSTRACT

This chapter considers the key themes and issues covered throughout the book in an attempt to highlight the varied and inter-connected nature of the complexities and challenges that are central to contemporary higher education (HE). These include issues of risk and precarity, employability, technology, knowledge and the market, mental health, online self-promotion and equality and diversity, to name but a few. It concludes with a brief reflection on the impact of COVID-19 and an item of HE-related news that reflects and illustrates some of these elements and invites readers to discuss their own perspectives on these issues.
