ABSTRACT
Since October 2009 a tripartite relationship has existed between Western University, Canada, Victoria University, Melbourne, Australia and the German Sport University Cologne, Germany. For the last four years the collaboration between the three universities has been fostered by scholars from the fields of sport history, sociocultural and above all Olympic studies. On 10 July 2017, the Olympic Studies Centre of the German Sport University organized a workshop on Sport Development and Olympic Studies for scholars from the three universities. The objective of the workshop was to identify new international collaborative research fields and deepen already existing research lines on topics in the areas of the Olympics, Olympic Movement and sport development. Without doubt, Olympic Studies and sport development are broad fields which can and should be approached in a multi- and interdisciplinary way- one could name relevant disciplines such as sport management, sport politics, sport pedagogy, sport sociology and sport history.
