ABSTRACT
Technology-based reference services are creating exciting and challenging opportunities for libraries in offering their basic service: access to information. This paper examines some of the possible approaches to high tech reference and how to manage and finance technology-based reference services. The focus is on the academic library which supports basically undergraduate level education but which is not a research library, i.e., one supporting large amounts of doctoral level and faculty research.
