ABSTRACT

The #RedForEd movement that resulted in better working conditions for teachers and better learning environments for students has been well publicized. This chapter, written by an Arizona teacher and one of the founders of the #RedForEd movement, explains its grassroots origins, the story of how it expanded to empower teachers across the United States and around the world, and lessons that teachers can learn about the power of agency, social media, and solidarity to bring about positive reforms for our schools, co-workers, communities, and students. The story illustrates the power that teachers have when they organize and work together toward a common mission.
